Barnes is a suburban district in south-west London, England at one end of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It is centred 5.8 miles (9.3 km) west south-west of Charing Cross in a loop of the River Thames. Barnes has a high proportion of 18th- and 19th-century buildings, a wide variety of convenience shopping on its high street, and includes the "village" area centred on Barnes Pond, making up the Barnes Village conservation area. On the east riverside is the WWT London Wetland Centre. Barnes has fields for the three main national team sports and has woodland by one of its two railway stations on the "Barnes Trail".
